Advantages of Electric Car

Advantages of electric car include zero emissions at the point of use and no engine noise.

Zero Emissions at the Point of Use

Fully electric cars create zero tailpipe emissions. CO2, which is often referred to when speaking of car exhaust emissions, is not the only harmful compound coming out of gas cars.

The full list includes:

  • Hydrocarbons
  • Nitrogen oxides (NOx)
  • Carbon monoxide
  • Carbon dioxide
  • Particulates
  • Sulphur oxide (SOx)

With electric cars, none of these are exhausted from the tailpipe.

However, the electricity needs to be generated somewhere, and if that source is not environmentally friendly, there will be related environmental damage, through this connection.

    No Engine Noise

The electric cars operate relatively more silently than their internal combustion engine counterparts do.

This has some negative sides as well as the obvious good points. For example, the University of California at Riverside has found that even slow-moving hybrids can get 40 percent closer to any pedestrian than a combustion-engine car before they are detected, due to their silent engines.

However, on city use, the decrease in both tailpipe emissions and noise levels from cars would lead to a more enjoyable environment.

On highways the end result is probably not as much different, due to much of the noise in high speeds coming from the tires.
