Battery for Hybrid Car
Battery for hybrid car should last between 150,000 and 200,000, and probably much longer.
The hybrid battery packs that are in the hybrid cars have been designed to last for the lifetime of the vehicle. In addition, a typical warranty covers the batteries for around eight to ten years, very much depending on the carmaker in question. Many hybrids that are on the roads today use NiMH based batteries. These are not as environmentally problematic as rechargeable nickel cadmium types which are also available. What's even better, the NiMH batteries can be fully recycled. Of the carmakers, at least Toyota and Honda have stated that they intend to recycle dead batteries and their disposal will produce no toxic hazards. In fact, there is a phone number on each Toyota hybrid car battery, and they pay a fee for each battery recycled. If there ever is need to do a replacement of the batteries, the costs could be significant, as the batteries used on cars are still an expensive piece of equipment.
