Chevrolet Hybrid Cars
Chevrolet hybrid cars include three models for the model years 2008 and 2009: Tahoe Hybrid, Malibu Hybrid, and Silverado Hybrid.
Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid 2008

The 2008 Tahoe Hybrid is the Green Car Journal "Green Car of the Year". It is marketed as the America's first full-size hybrid SUV and available in two- or four-wheel drive. The hybrid system is designed to operate in three ways: electric power, engine power, or any combination of electric and engine power. The Tahoe's Vortec V8 kicks in seamlessly when needed, and the two small and lightweight 60 kW motors work in energy conservation mode. The car pairs the two-mode technology with Chevy's Active Fuel Management system, offering up to 50% better city fuel economy over the non-hybrid Tahoe. Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid 2008

The Malibu Hybrid uses ECOTEC 2.4L DOHC four-cylinder Hybrid engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and four-speed automatic Hybrid transmission. Other highlights include the modern Hybrid Propulsion Electric System, 16-inch flangeless-aluminum wheels, StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System, and Steering-wheel mounted audio controlsFront and rear carpeted floor matsOutside power-adjustable body-color mirrorsBody-color rocker moldings with bright insertsChevrolet Silverado Hybrid 2009

This is the first hybrid truck from Chevy in 90 years of making trucks. Now, they are also the first manufacturer to bring to production a two-mode hybrid full-size pickup, the 2009 Chevy Silverado Two-Mode Hybrid. The vehicle can operate in three ways: electric power, engine power, or in any combination of electric and engine power. When operating with electric power, it provides all the efficiency of a full hybrid system. The second mode is primarily for highway speeds to optimize efficiency. This is due to assist the electric engine when conditions demand it, such as in trailer towing and climbing steep grades.
