China Electric Car

China Electric car manufacturers include China Youngman Automotive Group, which makes these cars in a joint venture with ZAP, a U.S. company.

The joint venture aims to produce electric cars to the Northern American market under the ZAP brand, with the first model being called Alias.

The Alias is likely to retail at a price of $30,000 in a two-passenger vehicle with a top-speed of over 100 miles per hour and a range of at least 150 miles per charge.

The goal of the joint venture is to bring an affordable, highway capable electric vehicle to market quickly to capitalize on surging interest for electric car technologies.

Another Chinese automaker called BYD is launching an electric car to the Chinese market, according to China Car Times.

They already have a car called F6DM hybrid, and there will be an F6E plug-in sedan for the electric car market.

BYD is claiming to have developed their own battery, using iron.

BYD is in fact the largest cell phone battery maker in the world, ahead of Sony of Japan. The car will eventually be sold in US, as a preview of what is to come was shown as BYD joined the 2008 Detroit Auto Show.

F6E, will be the pure electric, while F6DM is a dual mode car, a plugin with 100km pure electric range.
