Car companies make concept cars, or car prototypes, to showcase new stylings, technologies, and overall designs before putting the cars into production.

Not all hybrid car prototypes go into production. Rather, these concept cars are a way for the companies to get feedback on new ideas, and put into production those ideas that get the best feedback from the trade press and the buying public.
