Electric Car Mendomotive

Electric car Mendomotive is a company that produced converted electric cars from early to late 90s.

The company was launched in early 90s to meet the demand for electric cars that was likely to come from California's new law that would mandate electric car sales since 1998.

During it's course of business, the company converted one Pontiac Fiero, one Volkswagen Vanagon, one Volkswagen Type 34 Karman Ghia, and produced 4 electric Porsche Spyders, between 1992 and 1994.

All these conversions used off-the-shelf, inexpensive DC technology.

However, the mandate, which the prospects of the company were build upon, was changed, and the new regulation would push the Mandate to 2003.

This resulted in MendoMotive going out of business but the cars that the company produced are still, according to the founder's (Stephen Heckeroth) website (www.renewables.com) on the road.

One of the cars that the company build, the Karman Ghia, is still used daily by the Heckeroth family.
