 Phoenix SUT
The Phoenix Sport Utility Truck is made by the California-based all-electric vehicle manufacturer, Phoenix Motorcars, Inc., as part of their manufacturing program of all-electric vehicles which also includes a SUV version. The truck is a five-passenger, zero-emission, all-electric SUT, which was showcased during the EarthFair 2007 held in April 22, 2007. The SUT was on display at the Cleaner Car Concourse of the EarthFair, which is an environmentally-friendly exhibit area featuring alternative fuel vehicles. The battery-electric SUT can travel at highway speeds with a maximum of five passengers and a full payload. The SUT meets or exceeds all the specifications for a Type III ZEV (zero emissions vehicle), and has a range of 100 miles. The truck can be recharged in less than 10 minutes and has a battery pack with a life of 12+ years. The truck uses UQM Technologies Inc.’s propulsion system and Altairnano NanoSafe all-battery pack. Currently, with the cars and trucks that they have, Phoenix Motorcars targets operators of fleet vehicles, such as public utilities, public transportation providers, and delivery services. Phoenix Motorcars Inc is a privately-held company that is headquartered in Ontario, California. They've been developing battery-electric, freeway-speed vehicles since 2001. Their main focus, at least currently, is with Sport Utility Trucks and Sport Utility Vehicles. To make their cars a reality, Phoenix Motorcars has strategic alliances with UQM Technologies, Inc., Altair Nanotechnologies, Inc., and Boshart Engineering.
