Electric Race Cars

Electric race cars are manufactured by, for example, Wrightspeed.

There are several races around the nation available for racing electric cars, the most famous of which are the drag races organized by National Electric Drag Racing Association (NEDRA).

One of the main purposes of NEDRA's existence is to increase public awareness of electric vehicle (EV) performance.

As for manufacturers, one of the top manufacturers of cars for racing is Wrightspeed.

With Wrightspeed at the forefront of development, the electric car is making a comeback.

Their (and others) electric cars have 3 times the energy efficiency of the best hybrids (4 times better than fuel-cell vehicles), and the ability to use energy from any source via the existing grid, providing a long-term solution.

Wrightspeed's main mission is to develop advanced electric drivesystem technology, with no compromises between performance and efficiency.

Their main racing vehicle is the Wrightspeed X1 prototype, which is in fact faster than anything available except the Bugatti Veyron, yet it returns 170 MPG equivalent in city conditions driving.

The drivesystem technology that Writghtspeed has developed for the X1 prototype can be applied to other vehicles.

Although their current production is of extreme performance supercars, the improvements they are making in electric drivesystems raise the performance driving experience to new levels, something that can be applied to all future cars.
