Electric Super Car


Electric super car concept has been designed by Toyota, with their Toyota Volta.


Toyota Volta

The full name of the car is "Toyota Alessandro Volta" and it is a concept car that was developed in collaboration of the Japanese Toyota and the Italian design company Italdesign Giugiaro.

The name comes from Alessandro Volta, who was the Italian physicist who invented battery.

The car and the name for it where unveiled at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show and it is in fact fact a a hybrid-electric sports car.

The car is build on a carbon fiber chassis and has a four wheel drive hybrid powertrain combined with a 3.3-litre V6 gasoline engine with two electric engines.

The combination develops a maximum output of 300 kW (408 bhp), proving acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 4.03 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

The car seats three people and has drive-by-wire controls.

There are no current plans to produce the car.

Other super cars that run with electric engines include Venturi Fetish and Tesla Roadster, both available for purchase.
