Ford Think Electric Cars

Ford Think electric cars were designed to the tune of $100 million before the company was first sold to Swiss, and later to the current Norwegian investors.

Ford Motor Co in fact owned the company to January 2003, when it sold Think to Swiss company named Kamkorp Microelectronics.

While owning the Think company, Ford invested more than $100 million in design and safety systems and and imported hundreds of the concept two-seater cars to the United States for a three-year test before selling the company.

The current owners have said that these investments left a good framework to build upon. They also have raised some fresh capital (to the tune of $25 million from Norwegian and international investors) to relaunch the car model in which the Ford investment money mostly went, known as the Think City electric car.

The relaunched Think City will has a range of 110 miles and meets all U.S. safety regulations.

The car went into production in 2006, initially only taking orders for Norway delivery.

Think is currently based in Aurskog, just northeast of Oslo.
