GM to Give Away 1,000 Cars and Trucks
In an effort to bring new customers to showrooms, GM has revived the "hot button" marketing campaign from last year, in which 1,000 cars and trucks will be given away over a period of two months.
Similar marketing campaign brought 2 million people to GM showrooms last year. The free cars in the Hot Button program are awarded if a customer pushes a button in designated 2006 models at the correct time. According to the company, the program uses the safety button for GM's OnStar in-vehicle communications system for the campaign. If you're wondering how much this kind of marketing costs GM, the price sticker for the last years campaign was at $50 million level, according to Brent Dewar, GM North America vice president of marketing and advertising.
