Hybrid Car Advantages

Hybrid car advantages include increased mileage per gallon fuel consumption and lesses environmental damage from the usage of the car.

On the first point, the hybrid cars being advantageous on their usage of gas, those advantages are tracked by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

According to their figures for 2007, the most advantageous hybrid car model from this point of view, the Toyota Prius 2007, does 60 miles per gallon in city drive conditions and 51 miles for highway conditions.

Much of these great results for lesser consumption of gas is based on the fact that in low speed city conditions, the electric engine kicks in, and the car only occasionally uses the gas engine.

On being environmentally friendly, it is true that hybrid cars emit lower toxic emissions compared to conventional gasoline-powered cars.

This is mainly due to hybrids consuming less gasoline per driven mile.

However, some green issues advocates note that the electric batteries offer a way to power a car without using gasoline, but add weight to the car, which reduces its efficiency and are very costly both financially and environmentally to produce and dispose of.
