Hybrid Car Does it Work ?

Many ask " hybrid car does it work ?" based on all the hype you hear about the hybrid engine and it's benefits.

The way in which the hybrid car works its magic is by combining two smallish engines to produce the power of a larger engine.

The way today's hybrid engines mostly work is by combining a gas engine with an electric engine.

So, in that department, measuring horse powers to traditional engines, the power you get from the hybrid is very much comparable to the traditional gas engines.

The bigger question, however, is whether hybrids deliver on their MPG promises over their gas powered comparables.

Anyone can easily check the MPG figures from an independent source, which in this case is the governmental agency, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), which has a dedicated website, at fueleconomy.gov that lists the MPG figures for each car on the American roads.

And based on those measurements, the hybrids achieve far better fuel economy (MPG) figures than their gas powered comparables (such as comparing a Honda Civic to Honda Civic Hybrid).

However, one thing to keep an eye on, is that those measure are under change currently, and you should take into account the changes that are going to take place in measuring MPG.

These changes are explained by the Union of Concerned Scientists at hybridcenter.org/hybrid-watchdog-new-epa-test.html.
