Hybrid Car Luxury
Hybrid car luxury market is not at all crowded, with such early names as Lexus and Porsche introducing hybrid models.Lexus, of course, is the upper market brand from Toyota, and uses same hybrid synergy drive technology as Toyota's hybrid cars do. Lexus has several models available for the hybrid market, namely Lexus LS, Lexus GS, and Lexus RX. There is also one concept car available from Lexus (and several more from Toyota that aim at the luxury market, such as Toyota Volta) titled Lexus LF-Sh (lexus.com/fcv/lf_sh.html). As for Porsche, their hybrid will be for the SUV class of cars, the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid. The news to this effect came in 2005 as Porsche announced it will produce a hybrid version of the Cayenne before 2010 (the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid). The model was then demonstrated in 2007 as a demonstration model of the Cayenne Hybrid's drivetrain. The hybrid Cayenne is available in 2009 for the masses. The system is designed to work with all of the engines in the Cayenne lineup, including a hybrid Cayenne Turbo. It is expected that the Cayenne Hybrid will achieve some 9 L/100 km (26 mpg–U.S.).
