Hybrid Car Rental
Hybrid car rental is a convenient way to introduce yourself to the world of hybrid cars (especially before deciding to buy one).
In addition, if you get a good rate on a rental for a hybrid car, your overall costs are also going to be lower than with a traditional rental car, as the hybrids produce the nation's best miles-per-gallon figures (for their respective car classes). From the rental companies point-of-view, the hybrids cost more to acquire, and there is not too much of demand for them yet. Therefore, you may have trouble finding hybrid rentals even from the major rent-a-car companies that operate nationwide. However, there are some companies that do offer hybrid cars. These companies include Flexcar and EV Rental. Hybrid Car Rental CompaniesOf the features hybrid rent-a-car companies, Flexcar operates in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Washington. Flexcar is not in fact a traditional rental car company. Rather, it is the nation's oldest provider of car-sharing programs, based on memberships. You pay an hourly rate for your Flexcar rental, and the company pays for the car, insurance, gas and a reserved parking spot. Flexcar offers hybrid car rentals in at least Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago (through I-Go), Washington D.C., Portland, and Seattle. EV Rental, meanwhile, advertizes their rental services as "nation's only environmental rental car company". For hybrid vehicles, they have Honda Insights and Honda Civic Hybrids available for renting. Since the launch in 1998, EV Rental Cars' fleet has grown to more than 400 cars at twelve locations throughout the country. For airport locations, you can find EV Rental from Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Ontario, Palm Springs, Burbank, San Jose, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, and Washington, DC.
