Hybrid Cars MPG
There are two viewpoints to the hybrid cars MPG : official MPG figures and what you can achieve in actual usage.
There is a difference between these two figures, due to several things. For one, the MPG figures in actual use are very much dependent on the driver's driving style, including how the driver uses braking and acceleration as part of that driving style. Therefore, you should compile as much information about the actual MPG achieved in usage against the official EPA figures for MPG for hybrid cars, that are available from www.fueleconomy.gov. The problem, of course, is that you need sources for the actual MPG in usage from third parties, and preferably something with a large database of users, so that individual driving habits do not skew the overall ratings. One website that compiles actual MPG numbers to a large database from their visitors is the GreenHybrid website, at www.greenhybrid.com/compare/mileage/. As of February 2009, that database contained real life MPG numbers from over 7,473 hybrid cars. With their figures, you can see the low-high numbers, and they recommend using the 50% between the two on your consideration as the real life, actual usage MPG.
