NYC May Start Purchasing Hybrid Cars
In an attempt to improve New York City's air quality, the Mayor's office and city council are negoating a series of bills that would transform the city's non-emergency car and truck fleet into more environmentally friendly ones.
In effect, this would mean that NYC would start purchasing more environmentally friendly vehicles into it's non-emergency fleet, which is currently 7,800 strong. In reality, this would also mean that NYC would start buying more hybrid cars into the fleet. The ultimate goal of the efforts is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 10 percent within six years.
