Parking Discounts for Hybrid Cars

If you own a hybrid car in Baltimore, your life will get a bit easier, as the owners of hybrid cars will start getting discounts next week on parking at the 15 city-owned parking garages.

In dollar terms, this translates to estimated savings of between 32- and 85 dollars from the monthly fees for owners of the fuel-efficient vehicles.

However, Baltimore will be limiting the participation to just 200 vehicles and the program will only apply to monthly, contract parking. Also, only those owning either a Toyota Prius, Honda Insight, or the Honda Civic Hybrid can participate in the program.

In terms of other incentives to drive a hybrid car, in several states, laws have been enacted that allow hybrid cars to drive at the HOV (High-Occupancy Vehicle) lanes.
