Singapore to Export 100,000 Used Cars This Year
According to Singapore Automobile Import and Export Association, the country imported an estimated 100,000 second-hand cars in 2005. This makes Singapore the second-largest previously-owned car exporter in the world, after Japan.
According to the some of the wholesale buyers of these Singaporean used cars, these cars are better kept, and many times cheaper than their Japanese counterparts. The number of used cars exported from Singapore has been rising each year. One of the reasons is that more Singaporean cars are being deregistered or scrapped now than in the previous years. In 2004, a record of 85,000 cars were deregistered and an estimated 3 out of every 4 of these cars were sold overseas.
